So catching up on email, and saw this little gem.
The current concession contract to manage Hazlet Cottages, the pool and the associated campground store will end Oct. 11, 2025. IDNR hopes to have the facilities open and available to the public for the 2026 boating and camping season.
In the interim, IDNR will take advantage of the opportunity to perform general maintenance and upkeep of the facilities. For questions or update, please contact Eldon Hazlett State Park, 618-594-3015.
Which explains why my card had been credited back the money.
Let me do some digging and see if i can find another place.

As most or all of you may know, our contract, despite its recent renewal, was abruptly canceled for unknown reasons, but we’re uplifted by the extraordinary 11-year adventure we’ve had serving you, creating treasured memories and friendships. Specifically, the Shale Lodge cabin.
Listed rate for Thursday through Monday is ~$600 after taxes for 2 people. Website says they charge extra for more than 2.
Main space for gaming is tiny. only 2 seats so I would be forced to the kitchen counter.

Yeah, and I found a couple things, that is where I originally found Shale Lake listed.
