Socketed Magic Items

Has anyone run across a mechanic for D20 socketed items like from the Diablo game system? I know they published some d20 content for diablo a while back but don’t think that included a socket/gem mechanic with it.

i believe they TOUCHED on it in a few products… the wotc 3e Magic Item Compendium had what they called Augment Crystals on pg 24 (armor) and 64 (weapons)…
and there was a book called Artificer’s Handbook by Mystic Eye Games that briefly mentions socketed items (pg 55-58) with examples
kinda surprised d20 WoW didn’t implement it…

half-g, google doesn’t tell me much - only that the owner is Bob Riepshoff and the folder inside is called Core Rules, created on 12/13/16

i’m going to take a crack at writing up something of a mechanic for socketed items.
So far the material that i’ve researched, really makes a poor attempt in my estimation of covering down on the magical capability.
