One Billion Years Ago…lost in the Forgotten Age the Chaos Inc party had a mechanic available to them where you could awaken a sort of like latent magical ability, i want to say gin magic…but I don’t think that’s it. @dwarf do you remember what that was called? And reaching even deeper into that beer-soaked memory do you remember how that worked?

Genspells = generic spells. the mechanic was a sort of “wild psionic” effect like Athas had, but with magic instead. the table of genspells contained mage and cleric spells of levels 1-3, removing most of the attack spells so that EVERY character had a little bit of mana they could use to activate defensive/healing magic (which opened the party clerics up to a wider range of functionality).

spell points were based on the higher of Int/Wis, and stopped accumulating after about 6th level (if i recall correctly). each character started out with a randomly rolled 1st lvl genspell, and could pick up more as they adventured - but were limited to a total number of spell levels matching their number of spellpoints.

marinaded - the neurons are bathed in a beer marinade, then gently heated in a pyrex pan at 104 degrees whilst basting with a variety of dwarven spirits, everclear and rum to attain the proper balance of melancholy, mania and madness

honestly, how are you suppoed to get the data transfer to your matrix workstation correct if you don’t find your copy of The Forsaken Arts of Cerebral Cuisinartica soon ? 😜 search under Thor’s bed - pretty sure i saw Xan zipping under there last time i visited

Sounds like I tapped this train, without knowing it existed, by saying everyone native to the manaverse has at least 1 spell point to their name.

If min level is 5 for the world, wouldn’t that be 5 spell points.

Gygax would’ve probably found me too insane to work with 😜
(( but he’d have probably tapped my insanity to GAME with and swipe ideas from, i’d imagine - at least until Greenwood showed up and showed him how to cast Clairaudience to spy on me from afar ))
