Everquest for us
-
@daermadm I have never played it before but sure I’m game
-
I would give it a go, not sure what times we can do. Anything that involves past 11pm would have to be reserved for the weekends.

Out of curiosity is there a Mac or Linux build for EQ? I was blown away they recently had their 27th expansion late last year.

No, it is Windows only, as ever. The old school Mac version died horribly, because they did not make it even able to log on to the same servers as the Windows instance.
But Wine 6 should be able to handle it.
I haven’t checked which version of the Windows game client is currently required for compatibility. But it has always been readily available.
-
@daermadm well look at that, got it working, to bad I have forgotten just about everything in how to play the game.
-
Clients for the game, based upon some searches i think SoD (Seeds of Destruction) is the last expansion supported by EQEmulator?
-
Ok looks like i have the ISO images for Titanium Edition.
-
I’m usually game to fiddle around on Friday nights, if that time works for everyone.

I have the server up as of last night.
I have the clients stored on disk someplace. I’ll try and do that searching today.

g today.
I think we have to edit the EQHost.txt file to point it at the Cloud Server.
We will also need login credentials (im guess once connected), i guess being the admin of the server you create accounts @daermadm ?[LoginServer]
Host:15900=eqlplogin1.everquest.comLet me know what to change it to.

Yes, you need to change the login server info.
You also need to go to eqemulator.org and make a login server account.
First make a forum account at http://www.eqemulator.org/
Once logged in to the forum, you can make a login server account.
Yes, I could technically make my own login server also. That used to be a pain in the ass. I have not looked into it again.
There is a getting started link there also

Ok, i created the forum account, server login, edited the EQHost.txt file, and added patchme to the shortcut. I was able to login to the server page, and jump into the character creation process on 3 different server instances, however when i select the Daerma Adventures instance… I pause for about a minute, and it kicks me back to the login screen.

I probably screwed up the port forwarding. It is running on my server in Dwarf’s shop. I’ll be in my office in a bit and will check.

In theory the port forwarding works now, but I cannot test that myself.
Wine on my Linux desktop shows me an empty list of servers.
Had to reset the passwords, but my old EQEmu loin server accounts still work to log in. Just no server list.
-
Same problem, i logged in and out successfully on three rando servers, but when i hit Daerma Adventures it hangs for ~ 1 min, then dumps me to the login screen.
-
@halfgiant Once I can get a working install on my local computer I’ll be able to figure it out.
Fedora 33 with Wine 6.2
I can sometimes see the server list. and I was able to log in to PEQ once and see one of my dev guild characters.
But it crashed to some video error and never worked again.
For the short term, to get things running I’m getting the files copied to my local Windows virtual machine.
That should let me get things tested.

Shared the links to the ISO images from my google drive, should receive an email with the link.

I’m also leaving a USB drive with Dwarf tonight that has multiple versions of the client
