mkay - the boards say i should use Ancient Core Fire for most of my use, as it does 2/3rd the damage of my Big Nuke at 1/2 the mana cost… are Ancient spells the raid ones ?
-
@dwarf yeah ‘Ancient’ spells are received by doing quests that require drops that are difficult to get, typically from Raid runs. In your case a Ancient Meramite rune I think you need. Is what you would have to turn in.

@halfgiant seem to be getting a unknown error

Okay last night we started off in Qvic (Tier 4 in Gates of Discord), and promptly was owned several times. Tier 4 requires level 62. Then we moved to Kod’Taz (Tier 3) interestingly enough we got owned, but less so not exactly sure why it seems like we maybe should of been able to handle that zone, why had a few deaths and ultimately decided to move to Tier2 Sewers of Nihilia, Purifying Plant.
Note on Charm: Apparently a nerf occured after the Planes of Power shenanigans with Enchanter Charm. The mobs of expansions prior to Gates of Discord strike for the same amount of damage as they do in their uncharmed state. Mobs of the Gates of Discord expansion and all subsequent expansions suffer severe attack penalties while under the influence of a charm spell. Their maximum hit is generally 30%-40% of their uncharmed maximum hit and charmed mobs do not dual wield. In most cases, giving a charmed mob two one-handed weapons of any type will cause them to dual wield once again. All types of charmed mobs will equip weapons. Like all pets, they can also take buffs and heals, including those conferred by activated pet AAs.
I could charm to my hearts content in Tier 2, and even with the nerf they still do impressive damage, but in Tier 3 (Kod’Taz) or Qvic (Tier 4) everything was immune to charm still researching that.
Observations:
In Qvic (Tier 4), this i feel like we can chaulk up to we just aren’t geared to take this on, i think Diachi made the same comment last night.
Kod’Taz (Tier 3), i don’t think we did that bad here, but it was a bit of a struggle, not sure this was entirely gear related. It did make me realize i need to change up my spell bar. Before on a 3 or more pull of mobs, i could mez them one at a time, then proceed to slow, these mobs hit way too fast and hard for the tank to survive while i mez one at a time. I noticed we started doing better when i busted out the AoE mez, for those instances. I may have to start making room for the PBAE Mez, the Targetable AoE Mez, and the Single Target Mez. Mez first, then Slow.
So this brings me to Tier 2, i have solo’d in Barindu, and Ferubi charming mobs all over the place without ever seeing “This NPC cannot be charmed”, but we move to a Tier 2 Group Instance - Sewers of Nihilia, Purifying Plant and there is only one very specific mob i can charm in there. Overall i think we did fine for Tier 2, maybe use a little bit of work.
With Dregs raining down 16k nukes around we may need to do a bit of research to see how other groups manage the agro modifier. I do know there are buffs to help reduce hate (I know i have one), as well as AA’s… to help not take aggro from the tank.
We are going to have to start going after some names (for drops) to gear up the tank, if we want to progress to harder content
Thoughts?

mostly confined myself to the smaller 3-6k nukes unless we were fighting a badass (like those archer fucks) or on occasion when i got irritated by some beastie
the 16k ones are only when i crit and roll lucky

For our Intricate Defiant Charm, shouldn’t i be seeing stats on the item?
Is there a comparable alternative i could go with? no worky worky. Kind of a shame because it says the charm grows in power as charisma increases … i have a 346 Charisma, should come out nice.

and that led me to know what had to be done.

Fantastic. Thank You.
What was it? I thought all the magic items were just database entries was there a mechanic the required scripting for it to work?

they are just database items. But the items that change based on a condition also use a quest file to script the scaling based on whatever condition.
I also pushed a fix for the flawed defiant charm.

ok, guilty

LOL - ok that clears up the mystery. I thought i had gated to PoK and went afk… only to come back to a dead Saravok… I was like wtf

@dwarf I also figured out my lag issue. Well I dont’ know what exactly it was, but I reran the graphics settings tool built in to EQ and now I have no lag.
-
So @dwarf these are the 4 top fire spells I see.
-
Ice is not a single big damage Ice, spell, same as the short cast fire spell, but a stupid recast timer.
-
Your Level 70 stun is not a bad thing.
-
Your Rain spells are nice. Ice has always been better than fire for these. Each wave can also crit I think?
Well nice as long as there is not a mez’d one right on top of the target.
-
Managing your own agro is not a bad thing either.
The left one straight up reduces your agro.
The right one is a root. So instead of running in circles, just root the damned thing so Daichi can fight it.
-
Ice Block is sweet! That should be on your spell bar
