Everquest for us

Been playing a necro for a bit starting from one, and been having a pretty good time. However the pre-45 Rolandite in PoK doesn’t (or at least i don’t think she does), offer the ornate options for sub-45 levels.
Interesting link pertaining to Everquest Defiant Gear
Crude Defiant Gear (Recommended level of 10. No required level.)
Simple Defiant Gear (Required level of 5. Recommended level of 20.)
Rough Defiant Gear (Required level of 15. Recommended level of 30.)
Ornate Defiant Gear (Required level of 26. Recommended level of 40.)
Flawed Defiant Gear (Required level of 37. Recommended level of 50.)
Any chance we could get those added?

Yeah, I only initially add the 2 sets that were our level at the time.

I should be around on Wednesday (likely in @dwarf’s shop) if we want to roll over something.

OK I have been doing this for a few guildies over the years and figured I would post what I found.
First off to get the missions you say “sewers” or “catacombs” to Grand Historian Rygua. He will then respond with giving you an expedition and will also say a certain line of text to you.
There are 3 instances per expedition and in each expedition in his line of text he will mention 2 named mobs that are possible to spawn. This is what you look for to get the correct expedition. If you get the wrong one then remove all members and get it again until you have the correct one. (as to why you need particular instances I donâ€t honestly know whether it is only certain ones that spawn the sig mob or whether these are just the easiest to do I just have always been told to go for instances C on both and they worked for us.)
For catacombs you can have the following said to you:
Instance A;
“You have chosen to explore the Catacombs of Dranik. I have heard tales of frightening creatures of great power that lurk in the darkest shadows of the catacombs. Should you come across a dragorn known as Dragorn Marshal Greshka, or an ikaav enchantress known as High Enchantress Zy’chia, prepare yourself for a tough battle. The battle might be hard fought, but some would say the riches are well worth it.”Instance B;
“You have chosen to explore the Catacombs of Dranik. I have heard tales of frightening creatures of great power that lurk in the darkest shadows of the catacombs. Should you come across a noc known as Elite Overlord Vijaz, or an ikaav wizard known as High Sorceress Vi’Tara, prepare yourself for a tough battle. The battle might be hard fought, but some would say the riches are well worth it.”Instance C;
“You have chosen to explore the Catacombs of Dranik. I have heard tales of frightening creatures of great power that lurk in the darkest shadows of the catacombs. Should you come across a noc known as the Master of the Watch, or an ikaav mage named, Elite Pixxt Kâ€illiga, prepare yourself for a tough battle. The battle might be hard fought, but some would say the riches are well worth it.”For catacombs Sig – Dust-Marred the one you want is Instance C so look for those names in the phrase he says.
For sewers you can have the following said:
Instance A;
“You have chosen to explore the Sewers of Dranik. Beware during your travels there should you come across discordling named Craftsman Ferinio, or a golem known as Stonefoot. Both are rare and powerful adversaries. Should they come out of hiding, you will have a tough battle on your hands. However, some would say the riches are well worth it.â€Instance B;
“You have chosen to explore the Sewers of Dranik. Beware during your travels there should you come across an ikaav mage named Silania Janaid, or a bat known as the Nightfang Glider. Both are rare and powerful adversaries. Should they come out of hiding, you will have a tough battle on your hands. However, some would say the riches are well worth it.â€Instance C;
“You have chosen to explore the Sewers of Dranik. Beware during your travels there should you come across a dragorn known as the Dragorn Foreman, or an ukun known as the Ukun Sentinel. Both are rare and powerful adversaries. Should they come out of hiding, you will have a tough battle on your hands. However, some would say the riches are well worth it.â€For sewers Sig – Discolored Signet the one you want is Instance C so look for those names in the phrase he says.
Now one trick I found on the Sewers instance to getting your sig faster and what we did (unfortunately only after we had spent hours among hours in that horrid zone) was you get the mission then have either a necro run up and check the mob or easier is have a druid/ranger track in there. I ran my druid in and in the room just before the undead murkgliders I could actually track to the named (a twisted stone worker is the PH and was always at the top of my druids track list in that room and was also the only one I saw on track threw-out the entire zone. There are several other stoneworkers but no twisted ones). Then if it was just the PH I would Egress and leave and go again. You can do this over and over until the Named is up already then run your group threw to get your sig (how you do this is up to you what I generally did as my husband and I 5 box was to run to just before the undead then invis vs undead run threw and as u run over the top of the PH/named click a normal invis pot and hope you donâ€t get agro).
Sometimes you will get lucky with this, when we did it for our cleric we got it on second try but then did it for another guildy and took 2 hrs of getting missions.
Have so far not confirmed if you can do the same with Catacombs as several people have said they tried for hours and hours with no luck.

I found out why things were much harder for us last night dwarf, i normally click off the damage shield buff when we Rolandite so that i can fit all the buffs i want on Saravok. However my Ward of Bedazzelment, defensive proc that mez’s target that hits me, proc’s quite frequently and it wasn’t last night … which may explain a lot of my deaths. What i discovered is (after skimming logs in a more controlled manner this morning) the damage shield is waking the mob up after it has proc’d. The damage shield is immediately waking up the mob.
After a few tests this morning i was able to confirm.
-
huh… wunner why the damage shield was “attacking” things while they were Vajazzled ? i thought it only hit people while they were melee’ing you ?

Timing of the effects from getting hit I would expect.
Mob hits you and the server processes all the reactions in order. What order I don’t know.
But if the mez proc is processed first, that could easily explain it. Because then The server continues down the logic loop and finds the damage shield and applies that.
Would have to read source code to know how things are applied in what order.

I think your right Dwarf, pound for pound, those Discordlings make the best pets, i think its the stun they do.
-
having been on the receiving end one too many times, i agree
stun + decent damage output with a fair bag o’ HP = one tough lil’ badasshad my AA’s bug out last night after the game… gonna log in and fiddle a reset or 12 to see if i can replicate it for cloud to nail down

Interesting read, sounds like the spells are in the database, but haven’t been added to the merchant inventory. After reading a different howto discussion (different link), it didn’t sound like it was going to be trivial
