Everquest for us

I broke all the things…
-
hmmm with all the Rolandites running around, i wonder if there is an Obelisk in Oggok?
-
So i remember my Shaman didn’t have all his spells way back when, because many of them required difficult quests or a raid party. Is that still true?
-
been buying mine at the bigass library in PoK… they’ve got spell trainers there for EVERY casting class, including shamans (at least in the RoF2 client cloud uploaded)

Pretty much everything is available for purchase. I think a few are not in PoK, but on a ship in Gunthak Harbor or something.
Once you get to 60+ most spells are turn ins. You loot an item in PoP zones and turn that in for a spell.
The same for GoD (65) and OoW (70). That is as far as the emulator project has gotten content.

The RoF2 client works perfectly.
All the zones like Nektulos and such that have been changed work also.
I’ll start a push to an accessible location shortly. So i download the ROF directory from here, moved my existing Titantium files into a backup directory, and unziped ROF into the existing Everquest directory… are there files i need to move from my Titantium installation over to ROF?
I don’t seem to have any player models in the character creation screen, nor am i able to create a new character.
-
how big was the zip file you downloaded from here ?
-
@dwarf i didn’t preserve the zip file, but the directory i unpacked it into shows 4,230 files.
-
whats the total size of the directory, with subfolders ?
-
@dwarf my Everquest folder is 9,590,695,028 bytes
-
It started it and looked at the log, it may be a DirectX issue.
-
size sounds right… fraid i don’t know how to install captive-x on linux
-
There we go, DirectX… after all these years Microsoft still dry fucking me.
-
RoF Upgraded, looks like we are running smoothly. I see what you guys mean this client is better.
-
@daermadm so if i’m reading EQEmu correctly they have content all the way to Rain of Fear? Which would be level 100?
-
F9 Toggle Camera view, you can hit F9 multiple times there are multiple options, one of those allows you to spin your camera around to see your backside while sitting to make sure you don’t get jumped.

No. Content past omens of war is not complete.
EQEmu is the server
ProjectEQ is the database and quests.
The server is compatible with the RoF client. This means anything the client knows can work. Such as level 100 players and spells.
But it does not mean these things are correct or simply just work. The database is what actually powers how much damage spells do, mob level & HP, pathing, faction, etc. The quest scripts then control how everything interacts, beyond basic pathing and combat.
That said a lot of the info is in the database for spells because that information as well known.
But NPCs will only have approximate HP, AC, damage, etc. There are no quest scripts to control encounters (not even a response the a hail).
Currently ProjectEQ is working towards the Dragons of Norrath (DoN) expansion content.
EQEmulator on the other hand recently (2020) released the expedition system. This was something added into the client long ago, but took until now to actually become functional. But even once the functionality was released, it requires quest scripts on the NPC’s to be updated to use it.

Here is a post to give a little insight on how data is collected.
