After another couple of weeks suffering through complaints of Dregnoth abusing the townsfolk, Varalla told Nedok to take his latest problem to the party in order to get them out of town again. The wemic High Priest of Torm told the party that a very large black dragon had razed a new temple to Torm that was being constructed in the wemic village of Answith to the south. The party inspected the battle site with Immeral finding a dragon scale on the ground that Kargin used to scry the dragon’s location. They teleported in and began to investigate. when the dragon attempted a fly by attack Rorek promptly split it in half with his axe causing the dragons protection to teleport it away. Continuing into the lair, the party suddenly finds the air in the entire place turned to water. After seeing that it gave the party no real problem the dragon cause it to change into acid. Whlie the party was adjusting to that, the dragon began its attacks. The party eventually dispatched the dragon earning 1028 XP each.

This category is for topics concerning @dwarf’s campaign world that some of us have been playing in since the 80’s. Most notably, this is still active during Cabin Con. There is a lot of history and mechanics around this verse that sometimes need a home and this is it.

Continuing down the hall past the room with the pudding. Kargin had Rorek open the first in the hall. Inside they saw another Necronaut. It did not seem to react to the door opening, so the party closed the door again. The next door i the hall way opened into a room ull of bones. Dregnoth estimated a few hundred swarven skeletons were collected int he room. In the back of the room was a small heap of bones that seemed to glow with enchantments. Kargin sent in Rorek to check it out. Rorek did what a good dwarven fighter would do. he attempted to smash it. Unfortunately for him, some type of force barrier spang into place and the bones were undamaged. At this point the pile pulled itself together to reveal a skeletal being that Dregnoth identified as a Rakshasa. As the turn progressed, the party dispelled the barrier and then proceeded to turn the undead being into a pile of bone bits. Rorek atempted to finished it off after the rest of the party beat it down a bit, but his final strike seemed to hit nothing as the Rakshasa seemed to melt into the floor. It reappeared in the corner of the room a moment later. This time Dregnoth gave it a closer look, then blurted out, “I don’t have any lich parts yet.” He then attempted to dispel the magics on the lich, but some type of contingency kicked in an whisked it away. The party stood patiently by while Dregnoth collected bones. Hoping the lich would return to the room.

Since questions have come up recently on the details of some things, I wanted to make things clear on how I run this campaign. Any successful D&D campaign has to have background and a world with rules that do not change at random. For many, many people this means that they buy modules and settings and run their campaign within those confines. For others, the DM, with or without the players, will design a unique and detailed world that includes the history, mythos, factions, everything. These are all 100% valid ways to run a campaign. I enjoy both playing and running games in those styles. But even more, I enjoy a collaborative world. I run my D&D game as a shared experience. I am simply here to facilitate all of us having a blast playing a game we like to play. By collaborative, I mean I create a base framework and concept. Then I work with the players to create the details. When I first turned up the idea for this shift of V`Ral from the Forgotten Mess to the Manaverse, I started by talked to @dwarf about random ideas I had and things I wanted to try. That coalesced, eventually, into the Manaverse and this initial planet that we are playing in. From there I had a post a long time ago, probably a post on the Main WordPress site, that I offered rewards for everyone that posted lore and background for their characters or anything else they wanted. This is what I mean. If you want some kind of lore or non-mechanic aspect of something added to the game, just post it. Most likely I will add it. If it is a game mechanic, then that will be something that I reply to, and want the rest of you to apply to also, thus letting us work out the details of the mechanic and then implement it. Specifically regarding the Laputan city information that @halfgiant was asking about, I have long known that there is a single huge floating capitol city and three large cities. But until he posted I had not thought about more details than that, beyond a rough note of “floating keeps”. The other continent is not detailed at all, but I have a number of supplements and books set aside to be used to define things if nothing else is created. To me, this is the most fun way to play. Not only do you, the players, get to have more say in the world that you are playing in, but the DM (me) also gets to be surprised and enjoy some of the unknown that the players do.
